JMH Project

The real nerve centre of watchmaking lies here, in this watch metropolis, which was founded over three centuries ago. Creativity, precision, meticulousness and multiple skills are in the amazing DNA of these craftsmen who have passed down their expertise from generation to generation. It is no coincidence that most of the prestige watch companies have now established development, production and manufacturing units here, mainly in La Chaux-de-Fonds. The mission: to put this region, with its unique skills, into the spotlight.

The JMH - Journées de la Métropole Horlogère - was the brainchild of three men as passionate about watchmaking as they are about the region where this unique and unparalleled industry was born.

A working group was formed whose members studied the identity of the town of La Chaux-de-Fonds, its DNA and its extraordinarily rich heritage, whose uniqueness, they felt, needed to be spotlighted.

The creation of a major event, covering the entire region, was quickly decided upon along with a concept based on three main areas: professional, cultural and promotional.

On December 21, 2009, the first JMH was brought to a close with a celebration of the winter solstice and enthusiastically endorsed by the many participants.

This event is intended primarily to serve the watchmaking community and is dedicated to the most diverse audience of watch enthusiasts and watch sector professionals. It will naturally evolve from the 2010 session - November 4 to 20 - into a concept of international scope and visibility from 2011 onwards.
